October 29th, 2026
Well, Day 100 was certainly not what I was hoping for. Honestly, it was a devastating day.
Coming off FOMC, price slammed down right at the open. One candle alone dropped 176 points before reversing sharply. Unfortunately, my strategy gave me a valid entry, so I took it. That’s what I’m supposed to do.
Some might argue that I shouldn’t have entered because price was already beyond the 2σ VWAP band. But historically, my strategy has performed well in these situations, so I don’t necessarily consider it a bad trade. It just didn’t work out this time.
The reversal was brutal. I ended up losing 182 points per contract, roughly $700 total. Just like that, my trading day was over.
What’s especially frustrating is that I’m essentially back to where I started in October. I missed some of the best trading opportunities this month and somehow managed to participate in the worst ones. It’s been an incredibly frustrating month, to say the least.
But I’m not changing my strategy because of one terrible day. I’ve backtested it extensively, and I know it works over time. Unfortunately, losses like this are part of trading, even when you follow your rules.
One more trading day left in October. Hopefully, we can end the month on a better note.
Then it’s on to November.
Day 100 wasn’t the milestone I wanted, but the journey continues.
