Today should have been a solid trading day. I finished with a $100 profit, so I can’t complain too much, but once again, I left a significant amount of money on the table.

I think the losses from the previous day were still weighing on me mentally. Even though my strategy presented a good opportunity, I hesitated and didn’t fully commit to the trade. It’s frustrating because I’ve backtested this strategy extensively, and I know what I’m supposed to do. The challenge continues to be trusting the system and actually following through.

Day 89 Travel Poster

Looking back, today really should have been as simple as taking one trade with two contracts. The first contract would have captured 62 points, while the second could have run for another 332 points if I had simply let the trade develop.

Instead, I walked away with $100.

I know a profitable day is still a good day, but I’m getting tired of repeating the same story: I made money, but I could have made so much more.

At some point, I have to stop focusing on what I missed and start consistently executing the strategy I’ve spent so much time developing. The opportunities are there. My job is to recognize them, follow my rules, and let the trades play out without allowing the previous day’s results to influence my decisions.

The takeaway: Today wasn’t a failure, but it was another reminder that having a profitable strategy and executing it consistently are two very different things. I need to trust my backtesting, accept the risk, and stop letting hesitation dictate my trades.

These questions need to have answers before I enter a position, not while I’m trying to manage one.

That’s why I’m making adjustments to my rules for next week. I want a strategy that’s straightforward enough to execute without constantly second-guessing myself. Either the conditions are met, or they aren’t. There shouldn’t be a complicated debate happening every time an opportunity appears.

Total Profit: $101.30
