October 6th, 2026
October 6 was another relatively quiet day. The market was already up significantly in the pre-market session and, once the regular session got underway, it really didn’t do much. There honestly isn’t a lot to talk about today—and I think that’s actually a good thing.
My strategy continues to work, especially because it is keeping me out of the areas where I used to overtrade.
There were really only two potential trades all day. The first trade was a winner. I captured 31.25 points on the first contract, and when price came back down, the runner ended up giving me another five points.
The second opportunity came around 9:55. Technically, I could have taken it, but there wasn’t much room for the trade to develop. It probably would have produced only about five points, so I decided it wasn’t worth taking. I’m completely fine with that decision.
After that, the market eventually dropped back below the one-standard-deviation VWAP band and never managed to get back above it after 11:00. That is exactly the type of environment where I think my old approach would have gotten me into trouble. Price spent the rest of the session bouncing around that area without really going anywhere. I easily could have given back the morning profit by continuing to trade.
Instead, I stopped.
I finished the day up $86. It wasn’t a big day, but I’ll gladly take a slow winning day over a stressful losing day.
More importantly, today reinforced what I’ve been learning lately: I don’t need to manufacture trades just because the market is open. When the setup is there, take it. When the market moves back into an area where my edge disappears, leave it alone.
One good trade can be enough.
Total Profit: $86.30
