Breaking Down the Trades
The first trade was completely valid but ended in a 78-point loss. That hurt, putting me down more than $300 early in the session.
The second trade was also valid. Price moved 38 points in my favor before reversing sharply and hitting my stop at +5 points. What frustrated me most was that price never really came back inside the EMA before taking off again. Under my rules, I wouldn’t chase that move, so I stayed out.
Had I entered again, I could have potentially finished the day around breakeven. But that’s not the right way to look at it. The rules exist for a reason. Sometimes they keep me out of profitable moves, but other times they protect me from unnecessary losses.
At 12:05, I took my third trade, which moved 36 points in my favor before reversing sharply again. Finally, the fourth trade ended in a 31-point loss per contract, wiping out much of the progress I had made.
The Takeaway
I finished the day down approximately $291. Not ideal, especially after having several opportunities to recover.
But unlike some of my previous trading days, I didn’t let emotions dictate my decisions. I didn’t chase trades, second-guess my entries, or abandon my strategy.
The reality is that even a good trading system will have losing days. What matters is executing it consistently and allowing the results to play out over time.
Day 97 wasn’t a financial success, but it was a success in discipline. And right now, that’s something worth building on.
Total Profit: -$-291.30
