Another rough start to the week. I’m not sure if being near all-time highs is contributing to the choppy price action, but once again I started the week with three losses in a row. Somehow, I’m still profitable for the week, so hopefully Thursday and Friday bring some cleaner trading.
Unfortunately, I also made a couple of execution mistakes today. On one trade, I placed my stop loss in the wrong spot. According to my rules, I should have only lost about 62 points on each contract. That mistake made an already difficult day more expensive and is something I need to eliminate going forward. My focus needs to be on executing the strategy as precisely as possible, especially when it comes to stop placement.
I also somehow exited another trade early, which cost me roughly 10 additional points. These are small execution errors, but they add up quickly, especially during a losing stretch.
The good news is that I’m still up around $200 for the week. Still, I’m not going to lie—today was a bummer. The strategy is one thing, but mistakes that are completely within my control are frustrating. The goal for the rest of the week is simple: follow the rules, double-check every order, and execute each trade correctly.
MNQ Chart
The first trade came at 7:25 a.m. and was stopped out for a loss of 19.25 points on each contract.
The second trade came at 7:45 a.m. and was another loss, this time for 27.25 points on each contract.
The third and final trade came right at the market open. Price moved against me almost immediately and hit my stop for a 78-point loss, plus an additional 11-point execution error on each contract. According to my rules, the correct stop should have been around 62 points, so this was another costly mistake.
Altogether, the error added roughly $150 in losses that should not have happened. I’m still going to include the full loss in my official results because I took the trade and made the mistake, but it’s definitely something I need to clean up going forward. Better order placement and double-checking my stop before entering should help prevent this from happening again.
Total Profit: $-586.30
