Today was a little more challenging because I was dealing with slow cell service in France, which made it difficult to trade consistently. Even with those distractions, I still finished the day profitable. My biggest mistake wasn’t a losing trade—it was letting nervousness keep me from taking the final setup, which ended up being a winner.
MNQ Chart
From the opening price action, it was clear the market was likely headed lower, and the bearish bias held for most of the session.
The first trade came at 7:45 AM. It reached the profit target for 51 points on the first contract, while the runner was stopped out for 5 points.
I attempted to re-enter on the second trade as price continued lower, but this one didn’t work out. Both contracts were stopped out for a 63-point loss each.
The third trade came shortly after the market opened and turned out to be the best trade of the day. The first contract hit its target for 94 points, and I let the runner continue for an impressive 228 points.
The final setup of the day was one I failed to take because I hesitated. Looking back, it met all of my trading rules and would have resulted in a 78-point gain on each contract. It was a good reminder that following the system consistently is just as important as managing risk. Sometimes the biggest losses aren’t the ones you take—they’re the trades you let fear keep you from taking.
