A Messy Start
I had a feeling today might be choppy, especially after the previous trend day. There was a potential opportunity around 7:20–7:30 AM, but with possible news around that time and price jumping roughly 125 points, the move felt risky. Looking back, both contracts would have reached their targets, but I wasn’t comfortable taking that trade.
Plenty of Trades, Little Progress
The first clear opportunity came at 8:35 AM and would have been a winner. The first contract would have captured 49 points, while the runner would have exited at +5 after price reversed.
Unfortunately, the next trade would have lost 25 points per contract. At 9:45 AM, another opportunity appeared, producing a potential 61-point winner and a +5-point runner.
The rest of the session was a mixed bag. An 11:10 AM trade would have lost 38 points per contract, followed by a small winner at 11:15 AM worth 6 and 5 points. Another winning opportunity appeared around 12:30 PM, but the final two trades would have resulted in losses of 25 and 12 points per contract, respectively.
Following every signal would have left me down roughly 30-something points for the day.
Another Lesson in Execution
I did trade today, but I skipped several opportunities again. My actual result was nearly breakeven, with a loss of approximately $1.
Overall, this wasn’t a particularly good trading day. Between the aftermath of a strong trend day and the uncertainty surrounding Election Day, the market was unpredictable and frustrating.
But that’s trading. Not every day will produce beautiful trends or substantial profits. Some days are simply messy.
The important lesson remains the same: I need to execute my strategy consistently rather than selectively choosing which valid trades to take. A losing day isn’t necessarily a failure if I follow my rules. The real mistake is allowing fear or hesitation to interfere with my execution.
On to Day 104.
Total Profit: $-1.10
