May 1st, 2026
The start of May brought a much-needed reset after a frustrating April. Today felt noticeably easier to trade. I took my first trade shortly after 8:00, and it worked well right from the start. Overall, price action was smoother and more cooperative, even though a tweet briefly caused some disruption. After being down about $1,000 over the past two weeks, I was reaching both a mental and account limit, so this kind of day was exactly what I needed. I did add some funds to the account, but today is shaped up to be a strong green day and a meaningful step in regaining momentum.
MNQ Chart
Looking at the chart today, my first trade came at 8:05. I did make a mistake on this one. I exited early out of nerves, even though there wasn’t a strong reason to do so and the price action hadn’t actually broken down. As a result, I only took 20 points on the first contract, while the second contract ended up running for 187.25 points. Still a solid trade overall, but it could have been managed better.
The second trade came shortly after 10:00, around 10:10. It never quite reached my profit target, and I started to feel uneasy as the move began to stall. I decided to exit about 10 points before the target, right near the previous high. Not long after, around 10:50, a tweet hit the market and price reversed sharply, ultimately reaching what would have been my stop loss. Because I exited early, I was able to lock in a gain of 72 points. Had I stayed in, it would have turned into a much smaller win of around 10 points per contract. In this case, the early exit worked in my favor, which is rare.
The last trade of the day came around 1:05, and it ended up being a loss. I had a feeling going into it that it might not work, and I honestly didn’t want to take it. Still, it met my rules, so I followed the system and took the trade. It didn’t play out, which is frustrating, but that’s part of staying disciplined. Even with that loss, I’m still up significantly on the day, so overall it’s a solid result.
Total Profit: $469.16
