May 8th, 2026

Day 21 was Friday, May 8th, and once again the market kept pushing to new highs. It has honestly been difficult mentally because these moves feel overextended, and every instinct tells you price should not keep going higher. But lately, it just has.

That has been one of my biggest struggles recently. Not necessarily finding setups, but actually trusting them when the market feels irrational or too far extended already.

Looking back at the charts, though, the frustrating part is clear: if I had simply followed my original trading process and trusted the strategy, the trades would have worked again.

I think the recent volatility has made me hesitant. After enough chop and failed moves, it becomes harder to fully commit to momentum when it finally appears. You start second-guessing entries, trying to avoid another reversal that never comes.

But the lesson from this day was pretty simple. The market does not care what feels too high or too extended. My job is not to predict when it will stop. My job is to follow the process, manage risk, and take the setups that are there.

So with that said, let’s get into the trades for May 8th.

MNQ Chart

It ended up being a pretty straightforward trading day overall, and honestly, everything worked. That’s what makes it frustrating because I barely traded it.

The first trade came around 7:30 AM and reached about 40.75 points on one contract. The second contract would have only made around 5 points if managed conservatively, but it was still a solid move.

The only other trade of the day came around 8:30 AM, and this ended up being the real trade of the day. It reached roughly 62.75 points on the first contract, and if the second contract had been allowed to fully run with the trend, it could have reached around 307 points.

Looking back, it easily could have been a very strong day if I had trusted the process more and stayed engaged with the setups. The opportunities were there, and the strategy identified them correctly again. Execution continues to be the biggest thing I need to improve right now.
