In this post, I want to showcase current gay-friendly countries for gay travelers. These countries are more or less gay-friendly to travel to. This doesn’t mean they are completely gay-friendly but it does mean that more likely than not you’ll have an easy time traveling.

These countries score high in almost every category and for a gay traveler. Also, these countries have a 50% or more positive public opinion towards gay people, mostly okay or okay for public affection, have anti-discrimination laws, safe to travel the country, and have some or all gay rights.

Ranking

For 2019 there are currently 51 countries that make this list. I’ve taken this data from a variety of resources and you can read more about it on my “Ultimate Country Ranking for Gay Travelers,” page. All of these countries happen to score 6 or higher on my ranking system which is for good reason. Let’s take a look at all the countries on this list.

Thoughts

51 countries appear on my list and for me, these are the safest countries to travel for gay travelers. The only continent not to appear on this list is Africa, which to me is sad given it has 54 countries. I want to point out that there may be countries with gay-friendly parts and other countries that are safe to travel for gay people but these are the more “enlightened” you could say as a whole.

Although some may say that 51 isn’t a lot, it actually is kind of remarkable that countries across the globe are becoming more accepting towards gay people. Remember there are roughly 190 plus countries in the world. I will be updating this in a yearly post and see which countries join the list or maybe fall off.
