In this post, I want to lay out some ideas to bring healthy food for travel. Not having healthy food for travel is one topic that bothers me, and I want to seek out possible solutions. Travelers who wish to good food while sitting at airports or while on the plane, can’t find healthy food. In this post, I’m going to list some healthy food to bring on your trips.

Doing some research, I was able to gather a few exceptional food items that would be easy to pack and easy to eat on board. One of the worst things, in my opinion, is to have food that is super messy and hard to eat. Snack food doesn’t have to be bagged, processed food. It can be healthy and natural.

Healthy Food for Travel

Nuts

Nuts are easy to bring on board, and moderation is healthy to eat. Natural nuts have high fats, but these are considered healthy fats. Almonds and cashews are an easy go-to, but of course, you can mix a variety of nuts. Perfect for a flight, and these will fill you up.

Dried Fruits

I love the idea of dried fruit because it adds something more to your diet. Mix it with nuts, and that mix is much tastier. Try raisins, dates, prunes, figs, apricots, peaches, apples, or pears.

Protein Bars

I list protein bars because these can be healthy, but they also can be loaded with sugars. Avoid those at all costs. Sugar will kill your healthy travel diet.

Popcorn

Popcorn can be a great food to add variety to a mix or eat by itself. You do have to make sure that you’re not adding too many sugars, butter, or other processed ingredients to make sure this comes out healthy.

Veggie Snacks

You can cut up and make a side of vegetables to mix or snack on. You should have some greens in your diet.

Peanut Butter

Natural peanut butter is an excellent source of protein. Just make sure it has no added sugar and is natural peanut butter.

Organic Granola

Like nuts, this would be a great mix to your diet, but you need to make sure that there is no added sugar. Many of the packaged granola is loaded with processed ingredients and would not be considered healthy.

Cheese

Cheese is easy to package, and although I wouldn’t say it’s the healthiest item to eat, it’s not necessarily that bad for you in small doses. It would work well with nuts and dried fruit.

Dried Meats

Dried meats work well with cheese and are easy to pack. They also stay pretty fresh for long periods. My suggestion is not to have a lot of dried meats as too much can be worse for your health.

Fruit

Regular fruit is perfectly fine for a flight. The only thing I hate has a leftover banana peel or apple core. Perhaps bring a mini trash bag.

Airline Food but Vegan

If you are going to get airline food, try to order the vegan meal on board. Most airlines offer it, and these meals are healthier than typical airline food.
